In this study, it is endeavored to reveal implementation of the analytical review procedures
(ARP) in evidence collection and creation stages and the progression of the process by the
auditor via a sample practice on the subject matter when examining the independent audit
process.
The field of audit has gained importance upon growth of the economy, the complexity of the
internal structures within the companies and expansion of the boundaries thereof. Auditing
activities are carried out by the auditor using some techniques in order to detect frauds and
errors about the companies and to provide reasonable assurance. The techniques currently
used in this respect are physical examination, observation, recalculation, investigation and
analytical examinations.
The independent auditing process consists of three stages: planning, execution and
completion. In time, the analytical review procedures, considered to be one of the audit
techniques used, have become necessary to be used in 3 stages of the audit.
The purpose of the study is to examine the impact of the analytical review procedures on
evidence collection and opinion building stages in the independent audit process. As a result
of the reviews and evaluations, the importance of the quality of the audit evidences on
acceptable error level and minimizing the risks and the importance of making more objective
and accurate decisions by applying repetitive procedures before building opinions have been
determined.
