dc.description.abstract | Nowadays, researchers have focused on manufacturing processes that extensively consume energy. Low-carbon production, purposing to reduce carbon emission, is a hot topic in the literature. This paper presents an integrated Taguchi goal programming (GP) model of quantifying carbon emissions of a conventional turning process. The study also investigates the breakdown of the turning machine tool sub-systems that contribute to the overall carbon emissions of a turning process, such as cutting tools, electricity, workpiece, cutting tool material specifications, and chip disposal. We developed a model for quantifying the carbon emissions from individual sub-systems. Also, we integrate the Taguchi model and GP to determine the values of the factors that achieved a sustainable turning process. In this paper, a different perspective from the literature-based carbon emission optimization studies is developed. Hence, a sub-cutting factor (parameter) level-based optimization study that searches the more sensitive parameter ranges for the turning process is presented. So, Taguchi's principle-based GP model is an appropriate way to reach this objective. | en_US |
